This is one of the best and informative websites! I was looking for covered bridges and now looking at old mills something I never thought of so I love taking pictures of the past and now I have another resource to look 'em up. Here are some of my photos http://www.pbase.com/philsmith

Thanks Ohio Barn!

What a unique and different site. My

hat off to you. The hours it must have taken to take and assemble all these

great pictures..is incredible. As an

historical artist who majors in pen and

ink birds eye views of actual historical

places, I'm always on the look out for pictures that will help me authenticate my works. Salud.

Tim Reinhart | treinhart@metro-productions.com

I'm a video producer at Metro Productions, in Richmond, Virginia and I am currently working on a TV commercial ... and there is a scene that I need to create about rural America - patriotic. I want to use a classic red barn in this shot - and of course I love the Ohio Bicentennial Barns, but we can't travel to Ohio for this shoot. So, my idea is to have a father and son painting a U.S. Flag on a barn. Of course, the barn would already have to be painted. I noticed that there are some wonderful patriotic barns on your website - but none in Virginia.

Does anyone know of any patriotic barns in Virginia with a U.S. Flag???

I would really appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction - perhaps someone that I could contact in Virginia. Thanks for any assistance in advance. Fantastic website!!!

What a great website! Thanks for sharing these wonderful (and in some cases unusual) pictures with all of us. I'll be sending this site on to some of my family and friends and know they'll love it as much as I do!

Janice Collins | jcollins@tupeloauto.com | www.tupeloautomuseum.com

What a wonderful website! I just finished looking at your old gas station pictures, and they were great! I am empoyed by the Tupelo Automobile Museum in Tupelo Mississippi, and we have an impressive display of gas and oil signs on our walls, along with a goob's garage that looks similar to some of your pictures. Also there are 111 vehicles arranged in chronological order, so as to portray the progression of the automobile industry through the decades. Another 50 will be added as they are restored! Take a look and see this terrific tribute to the industry!

Thank You, Janice

Thank you for such a great resource. My husband and I are in the process of building a barn and this site gave us some great ideas.

I LOVE THIS WEBSITE SO MUCH !! Awesome job !! I was wondering if it wasnt too much trouble, maybe you could make a "Scott Hagan" section. This would be very useful. He is out on his own painting some fantastic barns now, and having them scattered in "advertisement", "patriotic", etc etc etc makes it vevy hard and near impossible to find them all. Having one source where they all appear on a list together would be awesome.

The Picture of the Phillips Covered Bridge in Parke Co Indiana included my 2002 Pt Cruiser in The Picture. I remember parking it there in July 2004.

I vaguely remembering someone taking the picture.

Is it possible i could contact the photographer so i could get a copy to enlarge?

I've been trying to locate some pictures of a covered bridge in Peepytown, PA. The bridge was lost in the 1972 hurricane. My wife used to play on the bridge as a child. I have searched archives all over the country but cannot locate any photos of that bridge before it's loss. The Bridge was located in Peepytown (Bears Forge), PA just out side of East Berlin.

Is there any chance anyone would have any photos of that bridge or maybe suggest where I can go next to look.

I am purchasing a site which has a classic old red barn and do not a great deal of money but would like to preserve the barn (the farmer is planning to bulldoze it). What does it cost to preserve a barn just to the point of keeping it from falling down--it doesn't necessarily have to have a function other than being safe to walk inside.

I am really enjoying your web-site. We are covered bridge nuts, so we've seen many of them, but still have a lot to go. Also, we're fond of lighthouses, and try to see them whenever possible. Thanks for the work it must have taken.

What a wonderful site!! I grew up on a small farm in Darke County. We have lived in Columus and make a trip back home every other week or so and I always look at all of the barns on our way home. I have watched a few just fall down from neglect.

I'm an 8th grader at Warm Springs Middle School in Morgan County, West Virginia. I'm doing my social studies fair project on the Mail Pouch Barns, specifically those in West Virginia. I found some information that mentioned a particular Mail Pouch barn in Randolph Co., WV that has the word chew in blue, which was a "mistake" by painter Harley Warrick. Would anyone out there have a picture of that particular barn that they could share with me. Thanks!

I just wanted to pass along how much I like the web site. I have had for many years the idea of creating a web site here in Indiana specifically devoted to barns around the state. Your idea of including the GPS coordinates was of particular interest to me and caused me to look deeper into how that information could be used with aerial photography. I am currently playing around with mapping software that shows the items as an icon, then when clicked with the mouse, launches the windows photo viewer to show the pictures. The GPS coordinates and other related info exists in a database. I obtained from a local county government files that contains 6" resolution aerial photography with embedded GPS data. As an experiment, I took the coordinates off your web site of the Adams Mill in Carroll Co., Indiana. I punched them into my software and it zoomed to the location of the mill. I could see in the photo: the mill, dam, and roads. I have also discovered that historical aerial data is available for some counties and this gives the ability to "look back in time" at developed areas. Thanks for the inspiration.
