(Barn Notes by Eddie Robberts
)
The owner said that the barn was originally a
regular MP barn, and she can even remember Harley
coming to paint it in the early 60's when she was
younger. She lived across the road then. Then, whe
she moved across the road and took over the family
farm, they decided to repaint it but in different
colors. So her husband painted the barn white and
painted over the existing letters with new colors.
The only place where it is different is on the
double doors at the center of the broad side of the
barn. The doors are new, and therefore there was no
template for her husband to trace or copy, so those
few center letters are his own brushwork. Also she
added the horses on the blue side doors. (Painting
animals is her hobby.) She also noted that their
barn was considered for the Jefferson County
bicentennial barn, but according to her, they
decided in the end not to cover over their
"artwork."
