The mill was built in 1811 by Simon Anstein.  It was powered by a steel overshot waterwheel.  The mill remained in the Anstein family until 1919, when it was sold to Bahn.  In 1977 it was still in operation by the Bahn family.  In 2005 the mill was used for storage and an auto repair shop.
