It's been there since 1976 when a young girl and
her brother painted it as the Spirit of 76. The
trees and brush grew up around it over the years,
and it was partially hidden by undergrowth, usually
only visible in the winter when the brush would die
out. After 9-11, the same woman (now with a family
of her own) repainted the flag, and added United We
Stand. Edwards Tree Service went in and cleaned out
the undergrowth. Now you can see the flag clearly,
especially going eastbound.
