At a woodcarver's cabin in the jungles of
Molokai on the west slopes of Kamakou, the island's
highest point. From the town of Kaunakakai on the
south shore, note Mile Post 0.0 on highway 460 (at
the street that goes to the longest pier in
Hawaii). Proceed west on 460 to MP 3.5 and turn
right (east) on a road. This road is paved for 0.1
mile to the cemetery. Continue 5.8 miles to the
woodcarver's clearing and the tree carving. If you
go 9.3 miles you'll come to a picnic area and a
lookout. If you continue to mile 11.3 on a rough,
muddy road, you'll come to the end of the road and
the start of a wonderous boardwalk that leads to
the edge of the steep north side of Molokai
(highest sea cliffs in the world)
